Back to school, back to school

Time for another year of school to start:

Date: September 5, 2012
School Year: 4yr. old Preschool

Proud of his new shirt that he picked out

Wondering about his hand... he quickly learned why mom kept telling him NOT to touch the curling iron, that it is hot. He will obviously survive but he bawled for an hour straight. He won't do that again and tells Tali all the time NOT to touch mommy's hot irons.

Tali was glad to get in the picture and pose

Just finished her milk, hence the milk face

In February we did a small preschool/joy school with a few of Max's friends. This lasted until May and then all of the friends moved out of state. Max has been missing school all summer long. He would ask me at least once a week if it was time for school to start again. We weren't sure if we were going to put him in another preschool but decided it would be beneficial for social/listening skills.

We found him a great school that he loves: Wee Wolves. The preschool is done at a high school by certified teachers but the high school kids also help. He loves having the "big friends" around and it isn't too far away. We run to and from school in the morning for my workout. He and Tali love riding in the jogger and I love when we drop off Max and I lose 30lbs for the run home.

It has been fun to visit on the run. Max has some great ideas that he has obviously thought a lot about:
Max: Mom, I think that earth is Jesus' Legos and we are his Lego guys.
Mom: It is kind of like that
Max: No mom, he first had dinosaur Legos and now he has city Legos

Who will win?

We are taking bets, are the red, blue, tan or green army men going to win?

goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo..

For the trio of May birthdays Gma suggested we all go to the zoo (she is the best)! We met Nana Deb and and G&G SNOW at the zoo and had a wonderful time. The weather, company, lunch and animals were perfect. The kids loved everything about the zoo (and day)!

* I wish I was better about taking pictures but half the time I forget my camera all together. So on this special day I should just be grateful I have pictures at all.

Seedlings

I found these seeds down in the basement and I thought it would be a fun project for Max to work on. He has loved planting, watering and watching them grow. They are not big enough to be put in the planter boxes out front. Max is always the one to remind me that we need to water the flowers. With his help, these flowers might survive the summer.

Ready to plant some seeds!

Tali was busy making a mess elsewhere in the house

Special Delivery

Max was so excited that he is old enough to go to the elementary school and be tested for preschool placement. We talked about it the night before and the next morning he was up and dressed at 7am! We were off to the school to deliver the paperwork, Max on his bike and Tali in the stroller (it was hard to talk Tali into riding in the stroller, she thought she should ride the bike).

Max being "Lightning McQueen" fast

Peppers

Tali loves to stand by the counter and watch me make dinner, just as Max did at this age. If she was taller she would climb up on the counter and turn dinner preparation into disaster territory (thank goodness she isn't). I struggle with her hair and many days give up after she has taken it out for the third time, but how can you not love that little tooth baring smile.
Eating a green pepper (trying to reach and throw everything else).
 A happy (messy) house.

You'd never know

that this little stinker was getting over a very severe infection. She is full of life, smiles, giggles and MISCHIEF!!!!

At Max's preschool party (center of attention)

Climbing everywhere possible and into anything she isn't supposed to.
As for her update, the ultrasound went well and we will repeat in a few weeks. If the next one turns out the same I am hoping that they will say that it is a mystery as to what caused the serious infection but that it is gone. We love our little Tali but she has sure given us a few heart attacks. If you saw her you would never know due to her shining personality. We love you Tali!!

Birthdays for....most

May is the birthday month 3/4 of us have a birthday in May. It makes for lots of celebrations, or just celebrating Max's birthday in a big way.

May 15th -
O The Birthday Boy, The Birthday Boy! Max turned 4! The night before he said "I can't wait to go to bed so I can wake up and be 4". His birthday landed on a preschool day so we celebrated with a party at school. The kids loved singing and he loved being the special one. For his special day he chose to go to lunch with daddy for a cheese sandwich at In n Out and for dinner it was fish (Cod), broccoli and carrots (not a joke). We headed out onto the porch after dinner for cake and to try out some of Max's new gifts.

He couldn't wait to ride around the block like a "big boy"

For days he carried these around his neck. Sometimes he would turn the around because he said "we were too close".

Cupcakes....the unfrosted is daddy's
That night after baths he said "Mommie, Today was a great day". That is exactly what we wanted so I guess mission accomplished.

The next day was his 4yr old check-up. He could have waited another year for his shots but we had already talked about shots and being brave so we went ahead and did them. He is now ready for kindergarten (in 2013).

He was so brave that after the shots he got to go to Toys R Us and spend his Geoffery gift card (was given by Toys R Us). He chose army guys and couldn't wait to come home and play "army guys" with dad.

Loving the sun

This weekend Clu and Marcus put up our new playground. It took them most of Saturday and the kids only got to go down the slide once. As you can expect, they couldn't wait to play on it today. It is a bummer that both of them (Clu and Marcus) had to work and didn't get to enjoy watching the kids play on it, maybe these pictures will help.

They only have the teeter-totter airplane left (Max is most excited about that) and I am sure that we will have more pictures to share.
