Torti...what?

Max had his four month check-up and we found out that he has Torticollis (a contracted state of the neck muscles that produces a twisting of the neck and unnatural position of the head). He referred us to physical therapy. I talked to my sweet and VERY helpful sister-in-law Erika (who is a physical therapist) and she recommended the Primary Children’s Physical Therapy. She told me to hurry and make an appointment because they are normally booked for a couple of weeks. I called right then and they had just had a block of time open up. The receptionist said that it is first thing in the morning and would that be okay. I told her we would take whatever they had. The appointment was the next day and coincidentally Clu did not have to be to work until later and so he was able to come with us. Our Physical Therapist, Mary was really nice and explained everything to us. She said that Max has a very mild form of Torticollis that might've been caused by being cramped in the womb. She says that he self corrects the problem when he is sitting or standing and that he is very smart to do that. She also gave us some stretches and exercises to do. I am so glad that the doctor caught it early because it can become a big problem if left untreated. Don’t worry, it has not caused Plagiocephaly (asymmetrical head shape with flattening on one side) and so he won’t have to wear a helmet.
